In 2004 Dan “Daddy Squeeze” Newton organized an accordion festival at Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota, meant to showcase different musicians and styles; the inspiration was old-time Polish and German. It’s become a Crossings tradition, bringing together award-winning performers and exciting new music from this extraordinarily versatile instrument. Joining Newton this year on Jan. 27 are Dallas Vietty, who’s brought his skills in American jazz and European swing to venues such as BB King’s Times Square and the Iridium Jazz Club NYC, and Dee Langley, who’s performed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Philharmonic. Together they guarantee one smoking hot evening. Performance starts at 7:30pm (doors open at 7pm); for more information, call 507/732-7616, or go to www.crossingsatcarnegie.com.
