SUMMARY:Molly Beth Griffin’s FAR, FAR AWAY
DESCRIPTION:Content welcomes Molly Beth Griffin for a delightful story hour around her recent picture book FAR, FAR AWAY. Join us on Sunday, September 21st at 2 pm for a reading, an origami boat folding activity, and more!\n\n\nA picture book celebrating the beauty of nature, new experiences, and gaining perspective. Sometimes you have to go far, far away to appreciate the world around you.\nMom and Mama are taking Rowan on his first camping trip far, far away from the city where they live. Rowan is excited to see all kinds of wildlife, possibly even a bear or a moose!\nBut they are canoe camping, which means they carry all their supplies on their back and paddle from place to place. Before long, Rowan is tired and hungry, itchy from mosquito bites, and downright grumpy. In fact, he wants to go home.\nWhen night falls, Mom and Mama listen to his complaints, but when they show him the sky—full of stars like he’s never seen before—Rowan realizes that though camping is hard work, it is worth it in the end.\nYoung readers will have a better appreciation for the challenges and rewards that come with being in the outdoors, and will come back to Far, Far Away often to remind themselves of nature’s beauty.\nMolly Beth Griffin is the author of many picture books including JUST US, TEN BEAUTIFUL THINGS, and RHODA’S ROCK HUNT. She’s also published YA, beginning readers, and poetry for grownups. Her newest books are FAR, FAR AWAY and RINGS OF HEARTWOOD: POEMS ON GROWING. She lives in South Minneapolis with her family where she enjoys hiking around lakes, taking pictures of birds, eating pastries, and waiting for the mail.
