Plastics and Water Quality in the Cannon River

About the speaker: Paul Jackson received his B.A. in Chemistry from St. Olaf in 1992 and his Ph.D. in Analytical/Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1997. He has taught at St. Olaf for the past 26 years and is a founding member of the Greater Northfield Sustainability Collaborative. Last summer, he worked with a St. Olaf student (through the CURI – Collaborative Undergraduate Research and Inquiry – program) to study the impact of microplastics on local watersheds. He and his wife, author Ann Marie Boyle, enjoy living next to the Cannon River in Northfield but also love to travel and lead study abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
