Performed at Kelsey Theater at St. Olaf | Nov. 9-10 and 14-17, 7:30pm; Nov. 10 and 17, 1pm
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Directed by Randy Reyes, Theater Department Artist in Residence.
A 1970 rock opera loosely based on the Gospels’ accounts of the last week of Jesus’ life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion. It depicts political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus that are not present in the Bible. This production will embrace the idea of rock idolatry and grounding the world in a rock concert setting complete with backup dancers and an awesome rock band.
Tickets: $10 for the general public and can be reserved at 507/786-8987 M-F 11am-4pm and one hour prior to a performance.
Presented by arrangement with The Musical Company, LP.
