Message From The CEO

Dear YMCA Supporter: We hope you are safe and healthy during this coronavirus crisis. With your support and the support of amazing community collaborators, our Y continues to quickly respond and serve those in our community.  There are many stories that show how together we bring brightness and hope back into people’s lives.  We are planning to use this newsletter as a way to communicate with you about how the Y is serving our community during these times and also as an ongoing update for our members and entire community.

As we continue to monitor and follow our national, state, and local guidelines we will continue to communicate with you on what that means for the YMCA facility reopening and programming.  We are working closely with our staff and board members on a plan for our reopening.  We do not yet know the timeline or the exact plans, however, we all know our YMCA will look different and we will have a new normal.  We will be intentional about our efforts and the safety of our staff, members, and entire community. Safety will remain our highest priority as we navigate this new world.  We also assure you that the greatest needs of our community will continue to be a high priority for our YMCA.

Thank you for supporting our community. We are grateful for each of you and appreciate you staying with us and helping our community during this difficult time. If there is anything we can do for you, or ideas you have to share with us about how together we can make the greatest impact in our community, please contact me at or at 573-645-0088.

How We Are Making an Impact

We have partnered with the Northfield School district to provide childcare to emergency and essential workers at school district sites and the Northfield Area Family YMCA.

We have partnered with the Northfield Community Action Center, Healthy Community Initiative, Faribault Youth Investment, Faribault Community Schools and Hiawathaland Transit to establish a food distribution and food delivery initiative for the Faribault community – our first week of distribution took place last week and provided 500 families with food.

We are providing health and wellness checks to our members and ensuring our members and community have access to health and well-being resources. Resources and offerings are located on our website at

Did You Know...

We are serving as a community resource hub and partnering with many non-profits, business leaders, and city leaders to identify, address, and meet community needs.

Most of our staff members were furloughed on March 16th. However, we still have 10 staff members working with us to meet the most critical needs of the community and have worked tirelessly over the past 6 weeks to engage with our members, develop new programs and continue to re-envision and plan for reopening. We will be ready for you when we reopen with a plan that ensures our community needs are met and that we have all safety measures in place.

All YMCAs across the country and state are working closely together during this pandemic. A great example of the YMCA work across MN are the efforts that all MN YMCA’s took to set up on-site childcare. Thousands of children of emergency workers and essential workers across the state are receiving care from our YMCA partners.
