National Public Lands Day Biochar with MN Master Naturalist

This is a statewide event that provides unique opportunities for Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteers to participate in our largest single-day of service. Friends and family are welcome to participate, but must be registered to participate. Everyone will sign a photo release upon site registration. All participants will receive a free NPLD MNat t-shirt as a thank you for participating. You can add additional participant names in the comment field. Registration by September 4th is required to receive a t-shirt. Registration will close on September 18th for participation in the event without a t-shirt. Volunteers will be helping with buckthorn removal and production of biochar, helping turn an invasive species into a value added resource for the soil. Activities include pulling and cutting buckthorn, stacking it, and loading kilns. Volunteers should wear close toed shoes and pants, and bring a water bottle and lunch. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves or hand tool if they have them. Site will provide: Safety equipment (gloves, safety glasses), loppers, lemonade.
