Joy Luck Trio

The world’s first pipa, erhu and piano ensemble. Gao Hong (pipa), Karen Han (erhu) and Donna Weng Friedman (piano) reimagine Western masterpieces through improvisation and bring Chinese folktales, memories and landscapes to life in new works by Gao Hong. Hailed by Crushing Classical as “a new supergroup,” Joy Luck Trio will release its first recording on Naxos World in Feb. 2027, ahead of Lunar New Year.
