Old Hams

Presented by the Second Act Players. Written by Bob Rinfret and directed by Faye Heffele. The Ophelia L. Davis Home for Actors, Musicians and Singers is a 1920s manor in 21st century Burbank, California. Its residents, who have called it home for more than 40 years, all worked in film, radio or TV. They include two sisters, a leading man who could never remember his lines, a man of 999 faces and a mystic who hasn’t had a correct vision in years. Their friend and former owner of the home, Ophelia Davis, dies, leaving the older performers in a terrible predicament. The taxes are due and, if they can’t be raised, the house sold and the land used for a shopping mall. At wit’s end, the performers turn to Ophelia’s granddaughter and a nephew for help. Using all their acting skills, some clever disguises and a missing lottery ticket, they manage to turn a garage sale into a hilarious showdown. It makes for a fun-filled and unexpected ending. Tickets: $12 members, $15 nonmembers, $10 livestream, available at rosemountarts.com/box-office.
