The AGATES Poetry Tour

Content Bookstore presents Poetry Night in collaboration with AGATES, a poetry journal published annually by the League of MN Poets. There will be three poets at the bookshop to read from their latest works, all of whom are featured in the most recent issue of AGATES.

Martha Bordwell is a retired psychologist who has reinvented herself as a writer. Her poems and essays have been published in national and international journals, including MinnPostMotherwellKorean QuarterlyOf Rust and GlassGyroscope ReviewPersimmon Tree and Amsterdam Quarterly. In 2019, she published the memoir MISSING MOTHERS, which interweaves her experience of losing her mother who died when she was a child with her experience raising adopted children. She lives in Minneapolis.

Christine Madline Ellsworth is a Minnesota native, hailing from Minneapolis. She’s lived in many states, including Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois and Wisconsin and currently resides in southeastern North Dakota. She holds a BA of English literature from Minnesota State University and an MA from Marquette University. As a member of National Association for Poetry Therapy and the International Federation of Biblio-Poetry Therapy, Christine is working toward certification as a poetry therapy facilitator. Poetry therapy has been recognized as beneficial to people who seek healing and growth. Christine is the author of one book of poetry, titled GIRL AGAIN, published in 2021 by Potter’s Wheel Press, and has received a First Award of Merit in the League of Minnesota Poets for an entry in the 2021 annual poetry contest. Her work has been published in Red WeatherTalking Stick and the Otter Tail Review.

Susan McMillan’s poetry has appeared in many anthologies and journals, most recently Talking StickDeep Wild and Oakwood. She has participated in the Cracked Walnut literary reading series, is a Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest regional award recipient, senior editor for the online journal, RockPaperPoem and co-creator of two Bright Light Stories in the Night e-chapbooks. She served the city of Rochester, Minnesota, as poet laureate from 2019-23, and helped create bimonthly Bright Light Poetry Night readings in Rochester. She is a founding member of Southeastern Minnesota Poets and a longtime member of the League of Minnesota Poets.
