The Metis & Their History
The Metis are a people native to Canada whose origins are marked by being a mix of European, notably French and Indigenous peoples. The Metis people often served as translators and traders between Europeans and their Indigenous kin. Corinne Marz, author of The Dakota Internment at Fort Snelling, will speak about the history of this unique group and how their history relates to and impacts America and here in Rice County.
